Support Staff provide high quality in-home assistance to clients and families with real-world and personal needs in a range of the following:

  • Personal Care
  • Specific Nursing Needs/Invasive Procedures
  • Shopping/Companionship/Recreation
  • Meal Preparation and Assistance
  • Medication Assistance
  • General Home Duties
  • Respite for Carers
  • Palliative Care

NASC requires all Support Staff to be qualified and able to provide exceptional service. Support Staff must be trained by registered organisations and up-to-date with all qualifications.

Minimum essential requirements and current certificates:

  • Certificate III in Disability Services, Community Services or Aged Care (or currently studying)
  • DCSI Screening Unit and Background Check (Child-related)
  • Provide First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Manual Handling Certificate
  • Unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Reliable transport and mobile phone
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

Desirable specialised RDNS qualifications:

  • Nutrition via Gastrostomy
  • Catheterisation
  • Bowel Care and Bladder Care
  • Medication Management
  • Oxygen Administration

Essential personal skills include commitment, empathy, honesty, reliability, self-motivation, organisational skills and a friendly and approachable manner.
